Product Description
The New Balance MR1224 is a stability running shoe that features a TS2 medial post and extended web to offer excellent stability for the runner with moderate to high stability needs.

The New Balance MR1224 is a stability shoe - Stability shoes are for runners who mildly overpronate (feet turning inward) and need extra support through the heel, midsole and post areas. Stability shoes will help reduce overpronation, which causes excessive foot motion and increases your risk of injury.

Features:

  • Nlock integrated lacing and webbing system that provides optimal fit support and security.
  • Abzorb A superior blend of cushioning and compression to help absorb shock on feet.
  • Transitional support system that has a multi-density medial support that creates a smooth transition from heel strike to toe off.
  • Acteva Lite that is 24% lighter than standard midsole foam.
  • Lightning Dry fabric that keeps you dry and comfortable by managing moisture transfer.
  • Stability web for optimal arch support that's both rigid and lightweight while preventing midfoot flex.
  • Extended Web Structured lightweight arch support that extends into the medial heel and provides midfoot rigidity and medial rearfoot supports.
  • Seamless lining.
  • 360 degree reflectivity.Average weight: 13.6 oz. (Size 10.5)

5 out of 5 stars Awesome shoe period   April 1, 2010
Elijah F. Sugay (LOS ANGELES, CA, US)
In college I worked at a sporting goods store and became very familiar with running shoes. I never knew the benefits of owning the right pair of shoes until I actually found them. I've worn Asics Kayanos and Trabucos (for trail running) since 2001. Last fall I found these NB's on sale and decided to give them a shot. I trained with them (plyo and interval training) since November and they were fine. Not too much wear and tear since I didn't run in them. On Feb 6th 2010 I decided to run a couple of miles on the treadmill. It was a good warmup. That night I decided that the following day (Superbowl Sunday) I would run from my house to the mall. It was about 19 miles in these shoes. Although my feet hurt the following days, I'd attribute it to regular muscle soreness rather than the shoe, because seriously, no blisters at all. I jogged the LA Marathon a almost two weeks ago in these shoes and again, no blisters or aches! I swear by these shoes. Now I know not every foot is the same, but these are an awesome pair of running shoes. I'll be checking out the 1225s soon enough.

5 out of 5 stars Best shoes that I own ever   March 30, 2010

I have flat feet and suffer from pronation. I needed stability shoes for regular everyday use. For last 8 months I have been using New Balance MR1224. I am very impressed with these shoes. These shoes are very comfortable and made from high quality materials.

I will highly recommend these shoes to anybody. If you really want comfortable shoes, go for these shoes, you will not regret.

5 out of 5 stars Very comfortable.   February 27, 2010

This shoe runs a little small and a little tight. Order a half size longer and wider. I ordered 13 eeee and it was still a bit short and the width was just right despite not having ultra wide feet.

That said, this is a very comfortable and "cushy" shoe. I am 6'5" and 240 and this shoe is far and away the most cushioning running shoe I've ever worn. New Balance has such a large selection of wide widths that I've simply given up bothering with any other manufacturer. I've owned many pairs for many years and I continue to be impressed. I think the 1224 is the best fitting running shoe I've ever worn and I'll be buying several pairs.

4 out of 5 stars Lots of choices but this might be the one?   February 16, 2010

I'll confess. I'm a charter member of the bad foot club. I've had problems with my dogs since I was a kid. Blisters, corns, sore bones, bad insteps and all manner of foot misery has visited me over the years, and, unfortunately, taken up permanent residence! Even a pair fashioned and sent down on angel's wings from Heaven would not cure all my foot pains, especially when donning a pair of shoes.

These New Balance runners come as close as any in remedying the problem. They're sturdy, comfortable, look good, and feel the way I need shoes to feel which is to say, almost pain free. For me, that's a huge leap forward. The only running shoe brands that make me feel okay to tie down, go out and rip off a 5K run or so, remain New Balance and Brooks with a slight edge going to the NB kicks.

Good fit, prompt service, good running shoe. I need WIDE shoes. I have only purchased New Balance for years.
