| Customer Reviews: GREAT SHOE!! February 5, 2010 A. Baghbanbashi 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Beautiful shoe that is just right for me. I have a normal arch thus i dont require too much cushioning and balance, just enough, which is where this shoe does the job. I was looking at the 749, but decided to go with the 769 because it looked like it had a slight bit more stability and was quite cheaper. The only bad part is that it's all white and light colors that tend to show the dirt and dust rather quickly (like in less than 10 runs), so if you're running off the track, keep that in mind. Overall i'm happy with this shoe and have always been a NB fan.

These are great tennis shoes. I just wish New Balance would stop changing the model number about every 8 months. This is the 4th or 5th evolution of an already reliable shoe. Recommended for those with a wider foot who do a lot of walking.
From GT-2120's to these January 22, 2010 Guillermo A. Llerena (Astoria, NY USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great shoe for combining lateral support with ample cushioning. I'm a 6'00", 205lbs over pronator who had a tough time running in GT-2120's because they are designed for a neutral gait. These shoes provide substantial stability in the heel area with an extra firm midsole which heavier runners will enjoy (less leg fatigue!). The heel height may be a bit much for some but I'm sure my frame will break it in nicely.
Fit: People have complained that this shoe runs a 1/2 size small. More likely, the issue is that the shoe is designed on a PL-1 last versus the wider SL-2 last that many runners are used to. The 'last' is basically the frame of the shoe that provides various shapes for different fits(straight, performance, racing, etc.)
The PL-1 last has a narrower toe area while SL-2 shoes(a popular design for older ND models) are wider in that area. I wear a D width, but I'd guess that wide-footed runners who got away with wearing a D in SL-2's would probably need to go up in width to compensate for the more narrow designed PL-1's.
More info about 'lasts' and how they correspond to each NB model at the New Balance website
Ultimately, these are a great shoe for those who need/want extra support in the heel. However, it may be worth a trip to a running store if you are unsure of which width is right for you.
These shoes are good July 30, 2009 Lemas Mitchell (Chengdu, Sichuan (China)) 7 out of 11 found this review helpful
They were actually a learning experience.
It just so happened that I was having a bit of knee pain from another brand of New Balance shoes that are coming close to having seen their best days. I put these shoes on (earlier than I expected to buy them) and it ended up that I had no discomfort after the run. It is questionable how long these shoes will last (likely a long time since they have features that the other pair did not).
What's more: These shoes gave me a good REAL-LIFE comparison between shoes that had only a very few of the features available that NB has to offer (the MR725s-[...]. In the future when I decide to buy a new pair of shoes, I will be able to see more clearly what features are available (and therefore worth buying) or what features are not available (and therefore worth avoiding).
It seems that the ratio of price/performance is roughly constant for all the shoes (i.e., a cheaper pair of shoes will give you problems sooner than the more expensive pair) and I've learned (the hard way) that it is worth spending a few extra dollars for a better pair.
